Sports performance

Sport-focused appointments with Garth for athletes from grassroots participation to elite competition.

The character of the work

A clear frame leaves room for a personal experience.

You do not need to be a professional athlete to take your sport seriously. Garth works with people across community, school, recreational and elite sport, with the appointment shaped around the demands that matter to them.

The focus may be preparation for the sport itself, rehabilitation, injury management, recovery or a return to training and competition. Chiropractic assessment, movement, hands-on care and practical planning may all have a place.

Performance is not only physical. Where it feels relevant and you agree, Garth may use Neuro-Emotional Technique to explore emotional stress patterns or learned responses that seem to interfere with confidence, focus or performance.

Inside an appointment

A beginning-to-end view.

This is an orientation rather than a script. The sequence and emphasis adapt to the person and the appointment.

  1. 01

    Understand your sport

You discuss the sport, position or event, training load, competition schedule, injury history and what you would like to work toward.

  2. 02

    Assess what is relevant

Assessment may consider movement, mobility, control, tenderness, function and the specific demands of training or competition.

  3. 03

    Choose the focus

Together you clarify whether the priority is performance preparation, recovery, rehabilitation, injury management or another concern.

  4. 04

    Care and performance context

Hands-on care and other appropriate techniques are discussed and adapted. Emotional stress patterns can also be explored when they are relevant to the goal.

  5. 05

    Plan the next phase

You leave with a clear next step that can sit alongside training, coaching, rehabilitation or other healthcare.

Care with context

What is important to know.

These boundaries help keep the appointment understandable, individual and appropriately scoped.

01

Injury comes before performance

A new, severe or worsening injury may need medical assessment, imaging or another professional perspective before performance work continues.

Tell Garth about concussion, significant trauma, neurological symptoms or anything that feels outside the pattern you expected.

02

Performance has a wider team

Chiropractic care can sit alongside coaching, strength and conditioning, physiotherapy, exercise physiology and medical care.

With your permission, clear communication between the people supporting you can help keep the plan coherent.

03

The emotional work is optional

Neuro-Emotional Technique is offered as one way to explore stress responses that may feel relevant to performance. It is not a mental health diagnosis or a replacement for psychological care.

You can decline this part of the work and keep the appointment entirely physical and sport-focused.

Questions people bring

Ask before you assume.

Do I need to compete at an elite level?

No. These appointments are available to people who play sport at any level, from grassroots and school sport through to elite competition.

Can I book while I am injured?

Yes, although suitability depends on the injury. Garth can assess what sits within his scope and explain when medical review, imaging or another rehabilitation provider may be needed.

What do you mean by performance barriers?

Sometimes confidence, focus or a stress response becomes part of the sporting picture. If that is relevant to you, it can be explored carefully without assuming that every performance issue is emotional.

Can this work alongside my coach or other practitioners?

Yes. Sport-focused chiropractic care can complement coaching and other healthcare, with your consent and clear boundaries around each person’s role.
